Suggestions for new award categories for 2004/5

VOTING has now finished - Final results

We think that there should be some award for the co-driver who has helped other co-drivers most during 2004. We have all received loads of help from Martin Brady - he just never stops sharing what he knows.

The nominations so far for MOST HELPFUL CO-DRIVER 2004:

Jonty Bolsover
Martin Brady
Neil Dashfield
Richard Edwards
Rob Fagg
Nigel Gardner
Richard Hage
Janice Hooley
Dave Kean
Shelley Rogerson
Patrick Walsh
John Youd

How about 'Best Newcomer'? This could be for a co-driver who only started co-driving in 2004.

The nominations so far for BEST NEWCOMER 2004:

Sarah Carcillo
Julie Murphy

Q. Wasn't there supposed to be a 'Rear of the Year' award last time and somehow it never happened? I would certainly vote for that if you brought it back this time!

A. I think you may have misread the name of the major award, the 'Golden Poti' (it's a letter 'p', not a 'b')!

This was given to Mr. Pashley in 2003. However, it was touted that he had resorted to some dubious rewards for his legion of female fans if they voted for him and this, too, could have led you to believe that we had intended to make such an award. On reflection, though, it doesn't sound a bad idea.......

The nominations so far for REAR OF THE YEAR 2004:

this could be you!

How about a category for the most level headed co-driver following a large 'off' who comes out with a crazy comment?
20/1/05

And the first nomination is for Top British Co-driver, Claire Mole:

Dermot Hanafin and Claire had such a huge moment on last year's Ulster. On hearing Dermot's groans from the depths of the car as they lay upside down in the undergrowth, Claire was really worried that he was hurt.

Dermot, "Where are we?"
Claire, "It's ok. We're upside down but don't worry, honey, I'm going to get you out of here!"

Award categories from the 2002/3 ceremony

  • The ‘World’s Worst Spelling’ Award
  • The ‘Welsh Boyo’ Award
  • The 2002/3 Fashion Award for the co-driver with ‘The World’s Cleanest Pixie Boots’
  • The ‘World’s Worst Accommodation in the UK’ Award

  • The ‘Putting the Fear of God into the Driver - Golden Globes’ Award which is always presented to the most vociferous lady co-driver
  • A special tribute award
