30/10/00  

WRC San Remo
Slid off the road on Stage 2 in very slippery conditions and damaged the suspension.  Ended the rally in 44th palace, 38 minutes behind Panizzi!

WRC Australia
Off to Australia on Wednesday (1st Nov) to do pace notes for the 2001 event!  Abdullah's wife is expecting a baby and he's under orders from Mrs. Bakashab to be around for the birth or else!!  Bobby is making notes with Martin Rowe in readiness for an assault on the Teams' Cup for 2001.  First event next year will be Monte Carlo in January.


24/6/00  I'm going away next week, to meet up with the Round the World rally competitors in Marrakech on 9th July and coming back with them to London over 8 more days.


22/6/00  Abdullah and I are not going to New Zealand and will know soon what the next event will be, probably Cyprus.

How did you start out?

Father used to drive when in the army.  Took me to see the Circuit of Ireland in late 60s.  Interest rekindled when I came across a navigation rally in mid 70s

First event:

Jeff Chandler in navigation rallies from 1972.  Belfast, Bangor and Newtown Motor Club rallies from 1975.  
First International with Clifford Davis in 1977 in a Mark 1 Escort - Circuit of Ireland

There have been a few -
This year's Portugal was fairly bad but 1996 Abu Dhabi was probably the worst when we hit a hidden sand dune whilst flat in 6th.........

How could you improve your ‘own’ current performance?

Get fitter (difficult)
Lose weight (seems impossible)

If you had £50,000 to spend on rallying, what would you do?

Support an 'unknown' co-driver.  Perhaps fund an updated 'British Junior Rally Team', with whom I competed in 1983

Ambition in rallying for the future:

Compete on all rounds of the World Rally Championship.  Then compete on all Raid Rallies
