Which TV sports programmes do you watch? Any programmes featuring motor sport when I’m at home
Starting out
How did you start out? My parents used to marshal on road rallies.  My brothers and I were taken to them whether we liked it or not.  Joined the local motor club and started doing 12 car rallies. Things you dislike about rallying? That dedicated amateur enthusiasts and unpaid volunteers are expected to organise events to a professional standard for highly paid professional drivers and teams for little reward or gratitude.
Who do you think will win the World Rally Championship in 2002? Petter Solberg
.. and in 2003? ** Marcus Gronholm but I'd like to see Petter Solberg win

Best driver you have ever sat with?

Could not possible say without fear of offending some very talented drivers, however Mark Fisher's commitment on tarmac was truly memorable, and making Ice Notes with David Llewelyn on the 96 RAC taught me a lot.
Best result: 1st in class on Neste 1000 Lakes 1996

1st in class on Deutschland Rally 2001

3rd Super 1600 on Acropolis 2001

Worst result: Leading the 1995 Quinton Stages outright in a Gp4 Escort RS, half a mile from the finish of the last stage the engine threw a rod, coasted to the FF and into retirement.

Neste 1000 Lakes 1995 - retired with engine failure whilst leading the class by 8 minutes.

** Crashing out of last stage of Monte Carlo 2003.

** Having to withdraw from Turkey 2003 having contracted Gastroenteritis

Championships contested: Astra/Nova Cup
Lada Challenge
Welsh

6th WRC Super 1600 2001 Martin Stenshorne

Best rally memory: I have dozens of great memories from many events; Donegal 1997 with Mark Fisher comes to mind. Despite planting the car on top of a stone wall for 6 minutes on SS1, the fight back through the field to a podium position was stunning, the carnival atmosphere for the whole of the event was just fantastic.
Strangest incident on a rally: Kerridge 1998

Rolled into fir trees in Myherin leaving me trapped upside down in a Ford Ka in pitch dark with Andrea Hall and no spectators around.

Biggest accident: Woodpecker Stages 2000 with Martin Sansom
Achievements gained from rallying: Travelled to some interesting parts of the world, sat with great drivers, been in some great teams and together scored some great results

What would be the best tip you could give to other co-drivers? Start competing as young as you can, compete on as many events as you can, get out on WRC events as soon you can, work hard, prepare thoroughly, be totally committed, sit with lots of drivers & do the lottery

Clive taken to hospital during WRC Turkey
Before the start of leg 2 of Rally Turkey (March 1st), Martin Stenshorne withdrew from the rally; co-driver Clive Jenkins had been taken to hospital with gastroenteritis.  Read all the news from the event

Email from Clive:

I'm back home now but still feeling a little fragile. My own doctor's got me a new course of drugs so I'll be taking it easy for the next few days.

Yes and I'm desperately disappointed for being the cause of our retirement from Rally Turkey and especially for Martin and the CBR Team after they put so much hard work into the event.

On the positive side though, our early times showed that we can challenge for overall honours and Guy's result shows that the car is competitive, strong and reliable which gives us a lot of hope for the next round in Greece.

As for Rally Turkey, given their circumstances the organisers put on a good rally which was very tough, but thank God it didn't rain!

Pardon?
Don't think much of the Ford press release announcing that Phil Pugh's wife had a daughter the night before the Monte Carlo rally........ It should be "Clive Jenkins's wife". Believe me, I know - I was there.....

However, she'll never make a co-driver - she booked in 8 weeks early, 4 lb 13 oz. We've called her Anwen.
